Disney, one and only partner for the event, will have their content available on the device right from the start. Bob Iger, a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, announced the launch of Disney+ on the device during the event. It is evident that the entertainment mogul had great trust in Apple. This partnership paves the way for exciting future experiences.
Apple claims that its system will be compatible with Microsoft Office and popular teleconferencing services like Webex and Zoom. VisionOS, which operates on the same framework as iOS and iPad OS, ensures that all existing apps will be easily transferable. In addition, the company is introducing a new application store that is exclusively aimed at the headset. Furthermore, it has joined forces with Unity to provide game development tools, which will most likely result in a superior gaming experience than just porting over existing ones.
A new version of FaceID called OpticId brings security features for using things like Apple Pay. Meanwhile, camera data is processed onboard and the company doesn’t log where you look.
It is quite obvious that this project is still in its initial stage. Firstly, the company has announced the product today, and the objective behind it is to get more developers onboard. Secondly, all the visuals presented in the demonstration are just graphics, which makes it challenging to present a 3D experience on a 2D medium. This obstacle could be a recurring problem for the company with this product.
This upcoming product will be released at the beginning of next year. The price tag of $3,499 is quite high, so you may want to start saving up if you’re considering buying it.
